Collecting Glass Pumpkins

Updated: Dec 31, 2022

Every fall my family gets so excited when we drive past our local market and see tables and tables full of pumpkins. It announces that the glory of fall has arrived. However, when you go to buy some pumpkins for decorating your table, if you're like me, you often have sticker shock. It's very hard to pay $75 to $100 for a transient decoration that will only last about a month. I think I found the solution! Every year my family buys at least one glass pumpkin. My favorite place to find these is Pottery Barn, but many other stores offer them including TJ Maxx, Marshall's, Hobby Lobby, etc.

After many years we have a collection of various different sizes and shapes that we pull out to decorate our October and November tables. This year we found we had so many glass pumpkins we did not want to buy many live pumpkins to decorate our home. One of the things I like most about mercury glass and glass pumpkins is you are not trying to convince people they are real as with silk or artificial pumpkins. We know they are not real but they are beautiful pieces of art that make your home feel like autumn has arrived. So this year start your own collection of glass pumpkins and remember you can find many of them discounted as autumn turns to the holiday season.
